Three colleagues in conversation, connected by Throughline's signature line motif

Understand how your team actually works.

Throughline turns the established science of the Big Five into practical, in-the-moment guidance — so colleagues know how each other think, communicate and take feedback.

Built on the most validated model in personality science — no horoscopes, no four-letter boxes.

The problem

Personality reports die in a drawer.

Your team has probably taken a personality test. It produced a PDF. Everyone read their own, said "that's so me," and never opened it again.

Two things went wrong. The report was solo — it described you, but work is never solo. And it was static — there was no way to ask "fine, but how does that apply to the message I'm about to send?"

The value was never in the report. It was in the moment you needed it — and the report wasn't there.

Why now

Work moved into the assistant. Your team's context should too.

You already draft the email, prep the one-to-one and plan the meeting with an AI assistant. Throughline gives that assistant something it has never had — a live, structured understanding of the people involved.

I need to give Maya tough feedback on the launch report. How should I open?
Lead with genuine, specific appreciation — for Maya the relationship is the stakes, so reassurance is the payload, not padding. Keep it to one behaviour, in private, and close on explicit confidence. Then reconnect socially within a day or two — for her profile, distance afterwards is what festers. grounded in: maya/feedback.md · playbooks/critical-feedback.md
And if it were Tom instead?
Different opening. Tom's profile is the mildest on the team — straightforward, kind delivery works, and heavy staging would feel odd. A direct fifteen-minute conversation and one normal follow-up is enough. same question · different person · different answer
How it works

Three steps. No new app to live in.

1 — Assess

Everyone takes a validated Big Five assessment — conversational, adaptive, and about fifteen minutes. Real psychometrics, presented in plain language.

2 — Map

Throughline builds each person's working-style profile, then the layer no report has: how each pair works together, and what the team looks like as a whole.

3 — Ask

Connect it to Claude or ChatGPT and ask in the moment — "how do I open this one-to-one?" — and the answer is tuned to you both, with sources you can check.

Working styles

Difference is the point.

Every team is a mix of working styles. Throughline measures them on the four DISC styles — and because every score sits on a continuum, two people who share a style still get different guidance.

DominanceDirect · decisive

Dominance: direct communicators

Decisive and to the point. They want the headline first — give them the bottom line, then the detail.

InfluenceAnimated · exploratory

Influence: animated thinkers

Drawn to ideas and possibility. Bring them in early, while things are still taking shape.

SteadinessOpen · relational

Steadiness: open collaborators

Relationship-led and generous. They do their best work when they feel the team is with them.

ConscientiousnessConsidered · steady

Conscientiousness: considered minds

Steady and deliberate. They think before they speak — leave room and the insight follows.

Beyond the label

Same style, different person.

Most tools stop at the label — and then four "warm collaborators" get the same four paragraphs of advice.

Throughline records how strongly each trait shows and how it flexes with context. One colleague speaks up everywhere; another only on home ground, and their silence in a new room means something entirely different. The guidance you get reflects the person, not the box.

We hold ourselves to a simple test: swap one colleague's name into another's guidance, and it should visibly stop making sense. If advice survives the swap, it wasn't personal enough to ship.

The science

Rigorous underneath. Human on the surface.

Measurement is built on the Big Five — the consensus model in academic personality psychology — using validated public-domain instruments. The friendly working-style language is a presentation layer, never the measurement.

Consent first

Built for trust, not surveillance.

Personality data is personal data. Throughline treats it that way.

Teams opt in together, and sharing is mutual — a colleague can see how to work with you only if you can see the same about them. Colleagues only see the summary you choose to share.

And there are hard lines. Throughline will not rank colleagues by ability, advise on promotions or hiring, or speculate beyond what was measured. Ask it to, and it declines — by design.
